Caries treatment with Curodont Repair

Caries treatment with Curodont Repair

Caries treatment without drills, injections and pain: this is made possible by a technology that we at zahnarztzentrum.ch now offer in all our centers. At the heart of this technology is an agent that contains a peptide. A peptide is a combination of amino acids.

Our dental hygienists or dentists simply apply this peptide to the tooth - which feels like gently brushing the patient's teeth. The prerequisite is that the caries is still at an early stage, i.e. the tooth does not yet have a cavity.

How is it possible to reverse tooth decay?

Tooth enamel is the only tissue in the body that has never been able to heal itself. However, the researchers of the “Curodont Repair” technology have succeeded in creating a product that imitates nature by forming a matrix deep within the caries lesion that supports the body's own minerals in forming crystals.

This allows tooth enamel and dentine to regenerate, the development of caries is halted and even reduced.

Treatment at an early stage - sometimes for “white spots”

As mentioned at the beginning, the condition for regeneration is that the caries is still at an early stage (a so-called initial caries). If the tooth surface has already collapsed or cavitated, it is too late for non-invasive treatment with the corresponding agent.

Early caries often appears as a white opaque discoloration on the surface of the tooth enamel. These are demineralized areas, also known as white spots. Small black spots, known as brown spots, can also be treated or remineralized with Curodont Repair. These are also carious spots that are not active at the moment, but can reactivate more easily.

How do you recognize early caries?

Demineralized areas are sometimes obviously visible as white or brown spots, but sometimes they are hidden between the teeth. Only x-rays can provide information here. It is therefore important that you have regular dental hygiene and dental check-ups!

If the suspicion of caries is confirmed, we can intervene at an early stage and prevent the caries from progressing. If the caries remains undetected for longer, invasive treatment would be necessary, i.e. with a drill, syringe and rubber dam.

Treatment procedure - with our dental hygienists or dentists

The treatment of a caries lesion takes about 5 minutes. It is carried out in just a few steps:

1

Investigation
After detecting initial caries - clinically or by means of an X-ray - we will inform you about the possibility of non-invasive treatment with Curodont Repair.

2

Polishing / preparation
The dentist now removes any biofilm and polishes the teeth. A absorbent cotton roller ensures that no saliva contaminates the tooth surface during the application.

3

Apply
Finally, he applies the product to the demineralized area with a sponge. Rubbing it in feels like gently brushing your teeth.

In all our practices, you can receive treatment with Curodont Repair directly during your routine dental hygiene session or annual check-up at the dentist. Our dentists also always consult AI software, which indicates areas where it suspects caries. In the case of advanced caries, our dental hygienists obtain a second opinion from one of our dentists.

A must: Optimal oral hygiene and balanced eating habits

Treatment with Curodont Repair must be accompanied by good oral hygiene and eating habits that are conducive to dental health. If you weaken the enamel - for example by consuming acidic and sweetened fruit drinks - even this technology cannot do much to counteract this.

Progress and control

According to studies, remineralization of the enamel and dentin takes place 4 to 6 months after application. The area can continue to remineralize even after that. It is important to keep an eye on it: In regular dental hygiene sessions and dental check-ups, we always check how the caries is developing.
